The first 3 questions are known as Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). Pupils are awarded marks based on the correct answers. No marks are given to the working but pupils are encouraged to work out the answers if necessary.
Many children made a mistake on Question 2 when they wrote (a) as the answer. This question tests their concept of finding a whole from 2 parts (Click HERE to read about part-whole model drawing). My assumption is that the children did not analyse the other options. It is recommended that they do an elimination of the options by crossing out the ones which are not the answer.
The last question is a 2-step word problem. The answer for Question (5b) is dependent on Question (5a). If the answer is wrong in (5a), the final answer will be affected too. Therefore, it costs some children a great deal of marks. :( Most children made a mistake here due to:
